Development and integration of powerful diesel and hydraulic systems into modular drive hexagons.
When it is necessary to move a massive modular platform or equip a heavy work vessel (Landing Craft) for everyday logistics, standard marine engines simply do not meet the needs. Pushing objects weighing tens of tons in strong sea currents and winds does not require high top speed, but huge, raw torque (thrust).
To overcome this challenge, maritime engineering must borrow solutions from heavy industry. Our answer to this problem is the development dedicated modular drive hexagons which hide the power of heavy construction machinery, optimized for the harsh marine environment.
1. 3-meter drive hexagon concept
Instead of installing the motors directly inside the hull of a residential or hospitality facility (which would take up space and create noise), we design an independent, specialized module.
It is a massive HDPE hexagon measuring 3 metres in diameter that functions as an autonomous engine room. This propulsion module connects to the main platform when required. Its large volume and exceptional buoyancy ensure that it can easily carry the enormous weight of industrial motors and hundreds of litres of hydraulic oil, keeping the centre of gravity extremely low for maximum stability.
2. Heart of the system: Cummins generators and Kawasaki pumps
The real revolution lies under the hood of this 3-meter module. Forget about delicate recreational engines; the heart of our drivetrain is made up of components pulled from the world of heavy machinery.
Using a proven, robust 6-cylinder Cummins diesel engine 200 hp, we ensure industrial reliability. This motor, instead of turning a classic propeller shaft, is directly coupled to a powerful double Kawasaki hydraulic pump – with an identical configuration that otherwise effortlessly moves heavy construction excavators in the 21-ton class.
3. Advantages of hydraulic power transmission
Why hydraulics? Power transmission via high-pressure hydraulic oil brings incredible advantages at sea:
- Absolute control: The hydraulic thrusters enable impeccably precise maneuvering at the lowest revolutions.
- 360 degree rotation: The external hydraulic thrusters can pivot on their own axis, allowing the massive platform to move laterally and rotate in place.
- Impact resistance: Unlike mechanical gears that break when the propeller hits an underwater obstacle, the hydraulic system simply activates a safety "bypass" valve, protecting the entire drivetrain from damage.
4. Vibration isolation and easy servicing
By isolating this powerful 200 HP system in a separate 3-meter hexagon, we achieve the ultimate in guest comfort. All vibrations and noise remain isolated within the drive module and are not transmitted to the main residential deck. Furthermore, in the event of regular servicing, the drive hexagon is simply detached from the platform and towed ashore, while the platform continues to operate undisturbed.
A power that knows no barriers
By integrating industrial mechanization into smart modular design, we create watercraft that defy all limitations on the water.
