Multipurpose Landing Craft (9 x 3 m)

Back to knowledge base

How and why we build indestructible HDPE work boats with a load capacity of 3 tons for everyday logistics.

In nautical tourism and commercial water-based operations, luxurious infrastructure is only half the story. The other half is the invisible but crucial lifeblood of any off-grid project – day-to-day logistics. Providing floating facilities with fresh water, food, construction materials, and regular waste water removal requires a vessel that knows no limits.

Classic fiberglass speedboats are completely inadequate for these tasks; they are too delicate, do not have a flat work surface, and cannot handle heavy loads. From this need for the ultimate work machine, our multipurpose Landing Craft measuring 9 x 3 meters. Here we provide the engineering background on how and why we build these indestructible work vessels.

1. Forget fiberglass: 20mm HDPE armor

A working vessel is exposed to mechanical shocks on a daily basis. Docking along concrete piers, running aground on sandy or gravel beaches, and leaning against massive floating platforms requires a material that absorbs shocks without cracking.

Our solution is high-density polyethylene (HDPE). We build the hull of our Landing Craft from robust HDPE panels as thick as 20 millimeters. Unlike fiberglass, which cracks and absorbs water under heavy impact, polyethylene is elastic, extremely tough and resistant to abrasion. There is no osmosis, no peeling of gelcoat and no need for antifouling, which drastically reduces maintenance costs.

2. How we build it: Monolithic strength by extrusion welding

The construction of a vessel that must endure enormous stress does not tolerate compromises in the joining process. We do not use glue or rivets.

Landing Craft's hull is joined by the most advanced plastic processing technology - hot air extrusion welding using HDPE wire. This process melts the edges of thick plates at high temperatures and injects new polymer, fusing the vessel's elements into a seamless, monolithic whole. The result is a hull whose welds are structurally stronger than the original material itself, guaranteeing complete watertightness under the highest loads.

3. Designed for cargo: 3-ton load capacity and bow ramp

The dimensions of 9 meters long and 3 meters wide were not chosen by chance. The 3-meter width gives the vessel enormous transverse stability, preventing dangerous tilting when loading or unloading cargo.

What makes this boat a real workhorse is its impressive 3 ton load capacity and a distinctive wide bow ramp (drop-down bow). Instead of transferring cargo over the ship's rail, the ramp is lowered directly onto the beach, quay or deck of your floating platform. With this “Roll-on/Roll-off” (Ro-Ro) system, we enable cargo to be loaded onto the deck using hand forklifts, pallet trucks or trolleys. Whether you are transporting heavy IBC water tanks, construction materials or utility containers, the process is fast and safe.

4. Modularity for every business model

Because of its spacious, flat deck, the Landing Craft is incredibly modular. It can be equipped with powerful hydraulic thrusters, integrated pumps for servicing gray and black water (as a companion utility unit to your "off-grid" platforms), or used as a robust transport vehicle for diving centers and fish farms.

Investment in continuous business

Your machinery should not let you down in the middle of the summer season. By choosing HDPE Landing Craft, you provide your fleet with a vessel that does not seek rest and is not afraid of hard work.
